Chris shares a glass of McPherson Rose with Jenn Powell.
To help get in the spirit of the festival, we chose three of our favorite Austin food vendors(Torchy’s Tacos, Texan Cuban and Frank) and asked our friends over at Whole Foods to help us pair them with Texas wines from the festival. Sharing is caring, so over the next three days, we will be sharing our pairings.
Today, we meet up with Jenn Powell, Beer and Wine Team Lead at Whole Foods Market Downtown, to find out what pairs with Torchy’s Tacos. I don’t like making things easy for people, so I chose the two tacos that seemed the most difficult to pair: the Brushfire (Jamaican jerk chicken, grilled japs, mango, cilantro and diablo sauce) and the Mr Orange (Blackened slamon, avocado salsa, grilled corn and black bean relish, cilantro/lime and queso fresco).
With wines from Zin Valle Vineyards out of El Paso, Becker Vineyards from the Hill Country and McPherson Cellars in Lubbock, Jenn takes us on a pairing trip around the state. In the video, below, find out what wines Jenn chooses and earn a little bit about how to pair wines.
There are still tickets available for many of the events-and a lot of them are priced pretty affordably.
