6 Austin Fashion Week 2010 parties you won’t want to miss.

2010 August 4

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should be aware that Austin Fashion Week 2010 is quickly approaching. And this lil wannabe fashionista is super excited about the upcoming festivities! With the official Austin Fashion Week 2010 event list announced earlier this week, I wanted to let you guys in on the ones I’m particularly stoked about attending!

Red carpet crowd at AFW 2009, its sure to be even bigger and better this year!

“88” Event and Pop-Up Store

When: August 7, 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.; August 8, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Venue: Domy Books and W3LL People

Cost: Free

Why this is awesome: You get to meet designer Elisa Jimenez who was named by Vogue as one of today’s emerging designers. This is actually two events spanning the weekend - starting on Saturday with an interactive show and on Sunday a pop-up store with lots of time to get to meet Elisa.

Bright Lights, Idea City: Austin Fashion Week Kickoff

When: August 14, 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Venue: GSD&M Idea City

Cost: $65 - $300

Why this is awesome: Rad runway including the best mash up of local talent with 25 teams comprised of a clothing designer, jewelry designer, photographer, hairstylist, makeup artist and model – and musical entertainment from the one and only Tiffany, my 80′s pop hero!

Makeover Your Accessories: A Mimosa Brunch

When: August 15, 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Venue: Rae Cosmetics

Cost: Free

Why this is awesome: You get to design your own pieces from Catherine Nicole’s jewelry line, the inspiring designer I’ve blogged about before. Plus, who doesn’t like mimosas!

Keep Austin Beautiful Fashion Show

When: August 15, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Venue: Austin Museum of Art Downtown

Cost: $10; $5 for Museum Members

Why this is awesome: As RoA green lifestyle blogger Ari put it: If her beat plus my beat had a love child, this would be it! Local designers will show looks on the runway that were transformed from recycled materials into wearable works of art. But be warned: Word on the street is that the event is already sold out so I hope you got your tickets early!

Fashion’s Most Wanted

When: August 15, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Venue: The Belmont

Cost: $10 general admission, presale $7

Why this is awesome: If you can’t get into the Keep Austin Beautiful Fashion Show head to The Belmont to enjoy The Yoshimi Collection from local green designer, Amanda Fay – plus there is nothing quite like The Belmont roof deck on a summer night.

Denim and Lace

When: August 15, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Venue: Hem Jeans

Cost: Free

Why this is awesome: I’ve very particular when it comes to my jeans, especially since this lack-an-ass girl needs a little help and Hem has been there all along the way of my denim discovery.  Plus, I’m super pumped to get to chat with Megan Summerville, Texas’ Next Top Designer from 2009.

Designer Rene Geneva with fellow blogger, Tolly Mosley at AFW 2009
