As most of us ladies know and have experienced, the printed tees around town tend to be a bit more male-oriented in style and cut.  So South Side Sanctuary, one of Austin’s hottest designers and printers of graphic tees, decided to do something about it. Late last year, they approached Kat Britt to work with them on creating a women’s line incorporating the printed tee phenomenon, catering to their hip,  female audience.

Kat is a local stylist and designer who has worked with Kevin Wommack and Whitaker Elledge of Playing in Traffic Records, as well as local artist, Sahara Smith, whose album is being produced by the infamous T-Bone Burnet.  Kat has embraced the t-shirt design challenge by incorporating some chicky flare with more feminine prints and styles. Also, her  t-shirt cuts celebrate women.

What I like about this shirt is the light material and rocker chick image - just wearing it gives me an instant confidence booster.  They print it on a larger size, giving this an immediate day to night look option - put a belt around it and you’ve got a super, cute dress! Plus Chris is a super fan of the design since he has a huge crush on model, Hannah.

Another one of Kat’s designs:

I love the "Leopard" tee from South Side Sanctuary

This one is a super soft material and I absolutely love how I can wear it off the shoulder to channel my inner love of the 80′s  - the leopard spot design takes it up a notch to make it a bit more modern.

WATCH: Check out the 3-minute video from our visit over to Southside Printshop last week to learn more about Kat’s inspirations for her prints and feminine cuts. She also gives styling advice. Plus, you get a quick look at the inside of Southside Sanctuary’s rockin’ studios.

So what do you think about the printed tee?

Can it ever truly be feminine? Or will you forever get asked if you borrowed your boyfriends tee?

What are some ways you make your shirts more feminine?

And who are some local designers that you think incorporate that look best?
