“RoA Tailgates a UT Longhorn Football Game with CoolinAustin. CAUTION: This Video Might Make You Drunk.”

This Saturday, the UT Longhorns face off against the University of Kansas Jayhawks at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the final home football game of the year.  That means it’s your last chance to tailgate.

Does the idea of a sea of Burnt Orange t-shirts getcha in a sweat? Don’t fret! We teamed up with our homeboy Rob Heidrick from CoolinAustin to give you a tailgating experience you’ll never forget!

Jasmine and I met Rob next to the UT tennis courts at 15th and Trinity.  Rob’s crew had camped out overnight to get a good plot to pitch a tent, set up a table and grill the day away.  Since it was Jasmine’s first time to tailgate, we asked Rob to give us a tour of the tailgate park.

Our first stop was at Royal’s Lounge.  One of the largest plots of tailgate space, Royal’s Lounge hooks UT fans up with free beer, booze and BBQ.  You do have the option to donate some cash-not to pay for the grub; rather, thanks to sponsors like Tito’s and Heineken, the Royal’s crew raises money for scholarships to help fund tuition for underprivileged kids from the Rio Grande Valley.

After filling our bellies with some brisket and potato salad, we rolled on over to Ivan Del Tuy’s tent.  Ivan and his family join four other families every home game to sit outside and root the Longhorns to victory.  One really cool piece of trivia: Ivan’s wife comes from the same town in the RGV as our very own Ari!

Speaking of Ari, she met up with us mid-way through the day bearing beer and her happy face!  Without those reenforcements, the day may never have devloped into beer pong and debauchery. Oh well, c’est la vie. Whatcha goona do about it?
