Go ahead and take tomorrow off because tonight will be the BIGGEST. TUESDAY. EVER!
Two of my favorite bands are in the city tonight: Legendary hip-hop band the Roots are taping a show at the ACL Studios, and electro-funk band Chromeo is playing at Stubb’s. But that’s not the reason this could be the biggest Tuesday ever. In fact, you don’t need a ticket to those shows to ride the funk train tonight. With FOUR kick-a special parties tonight, you might want to skip work tomorrow and party like it’s 1999.

If you didn’t drop enough dime to see the Roots at the ACL Studios, you can still touch grace at RED7, where Questlove, the drummer of the Roots, will be PLAYING A DJ SET!?! So drink, jive and pretend you are a guest on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

The Zoo with Sammy Bananas
Brooklyn’s Sammy Bananas is pretty amazing-and it’s not just because his name makes me giggle every time I say it. Nope, this dude is dope because his remixes and sets are pure love. And if you’re a fan of classic house, you’ll love Sammy Bananas. If you can’t get enough of him in Telephoned, one of the opening acts for Chromeo, then stop by Beauty Bar.

Learning Secrets Presents: An After Party w/ Holy Ghost!/Special Guests
The other opening act for Chromeo tonight is Brooklyn-based Holy Ghost! I love Holy Ghost. This DFA Records act definitely has that DFA sound-a little 80′s house with some italo-electro plus funk. Holy Ghost!’s DJ sets are funky will keep you dancing all night long.

Fundraiser for Jessica O
A friend of mine was recently robbed. Her house was broken into and then ransacked. Jessica is a beautiful light of energy, and I hate to see her suffer. If you are up for a drink, please stop bu Shangri-La tonight. Every little bit helps! Here’s more about her situation:
Jessica and her roommate lived in Hyde Park until recently. Their little house was broken into a few weeks ago. These thieves/vandals were pretty ruthless. They stole $700 in cash, her rent money. Not only that, the thieves stole her laptop, iPod, crazy shit like her underwear, opened bottles of wines and poured them on the walls and furniture. Needless to say a lot of damage. She’s moving to a new place on the East Side, understandable considering what happened.
Damages totaled about $1700, anything we raise over that will go to a charity of her choice.
So, please come out, it’s $2 dollar Tuesdays at Shangri-La and give what you can. Look for a bucket with Jessica’s mug on it. No amount is too small and you will be in good company.
