Sneaking into the Austin rock-and-roll Hotel Saint Cecilia Lounge [VIDEO + PHOTOS]
We promised we’d be posting a video tour of Liz Lambert’s new creation, the Hotel Saint Cecilia, this week. Scheduling problems have prevented us from getting the official tour. Instead of lettin y’all down, we decided to post a video of us sneaking into the hotel lounge during August’s First Thursday. I say sneaking in because the bar is only open to hotel guests (Those pesky neighborhood associations…). Luckily, we have a friend on the inside who let us in.
Apparently lots of musicians and Hollywood types love this hotel–and with reason: This place is hot! There’s something mysterious about the former-mansion-turned-hotel, which is probably why it reminded both me and Jasmine of Edward Gorey. In the video, below, Jasmine and I talk about the dark Victorian undercurrent prevalent throughout the hotel’s design and decor. You can also check the pics below to get a small sample!
(Sorry for the video quality. We didn’t want to disrupt the hotel’s guests with our fancy cam, so we used a point-and-shoot. Don’t fret: You’ll get the full hotel in HD very soon!)
