“Movember: Why Non-Hipsters Are Suddenly Growing Mustaches”

What’s Movember?

If you spend any time on Twitter or Facebook and/or you leave your home more than once a week, there’s a good chance you’ve either noticed a sudden spike in the popularity of mustaches or you’ve seen something called “Movember” mentioned recently. Oddly enough, these two items are related. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, check out the Movember Intro Video to see and hear what it’s all about.
If you’d rather not watch a video right now, here’s the lowdown: Movember is a mustache growing charity event held during November each year. At the start of Movember guys start with a clean-shaven face. The Movember participants have the remainder of the month to grow their mustache or “Mo,” while raising awareness and money for cancers that affect men – specifically prostate and testicular cancer. Funds raised this year will benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised nearly $50 million for cancer research.
