Ever wonder what would happen if Disneyland got Wolfe Nursery preggers? Yeah, we hadn’t either–but if it did happen, the kid would probably look a little like the Great Outdoors Nursery on South Congress.  Yup, it’s the place across from St. Ed’s with the giant water wheel.

Like Disneyland, this place is full of whimsical fun for the whole family.  Unlike Disneyland, this Austin-owned business is not at all corporate.  Whether you’re looking to start your own veggie garden or get a plant for the office, they’ve got it all.  It’s so massive that it even has its own cafe! But you don’t have to be a hippie to like it.

Don’t believe us? In this video transmission from the Republic of Austin, watch as founder Tom Tinguely takes me and Jasmine on a tour of his theme park-like nursery and shows us some of the spots that make this South Austin attraction worth visiting.

Special Thanks to Tom Tinguely and the Great Outdoors Nursery for indulging us with a tour :)

What’s your favorite Austin nursery? Let us know in the comments!

In the 3-minute video, try to spot the following:

  • The giant water wheel you may have passed on South Congress
  • The three-story high wind chime
  • Carnivorous plants (Oh my!)
  • BLUE BONNETS (they’re our state flower, y’all)
  • Texas-shaped stepping stones
  • A stone Buddha head
