Things are certainly getting scary. We experienced a similar circumstance recently in Georgia. I want to encourage homeowners in being proactive. A popular, simple and very cost effective means of improving water efficiency can be found at http://www.DualFlushPro.com. I have tested this product along with several similar kits and find them to be the most value for the money. This site regularly runs special deals.

I know that corner well. Every time I need to go to S. Lamar, I come right down Caesar Chavez, wait at the light, and head over the Lamar Overpass. I think the Aquatic center is a great idea, but that might not be the best spot, IMHO.

It is unfortunate that you had such a disdain for Buffalo. So it snows from December to March? I say big deal. The majority of the year is rather nice. April to October it is somewhere between 55 and 85 and lots of sunshine. Yes a freak snowfall can occur in October or April (quite unlikely in May, but I've heard it happens). After living all over the US, I settled here for a job. It is a mid-sized city, but it is convenient to Toronto around the lake (a world class city larger than Houston or Dallas by far), it is only a 6 hour drive, 45 minute cheap flight, or 8 hour Amtrak ride from New York City. The lakes are scenic, the weather is actually quite temperate for a majority of the year.

You have to give and take in this world, and the question is would you take the oppressive heat and potential droughts of a dry, arid climate or would you take a few months of snow here in Buffalo for a majority of the year that rarely goes above 90? I'll take the Buffalo weather over Austin, anyday. Buffalo is lucky in that it is a rust belt city that hasn't been hulled out. From downtown to Elmwood Village to Kenmore its got a huge, cohesive urban core that is gentrified. Sure, there's East Buffalo, but its a tiny area of the entire metro area. Amherst, Tonawanda, Hamburg, Lancaster, Clarence... All the suburbs are middle class, healthy, safe, and lastly this region isn't surrounded by evangelical Christians like the south.

From the ski slopes in the hills just a few miles south of the city to the beautiful Great Lakes, Niagara Falls, and having Canada next door and Toronto just a short drive away, Buffalo is in a prime location.

Your home will miss you, its too bad you let snow get in the way of enjoying what was in your own back yard. I absolutely hate hearing northerners who move south, because this region really offers so much. Oh well, I suppose it helps us, because you can buy a home in Buffalo for $100k and it would be better than spending $300k in Austin.

I will never stop going to Barton Springs. What a thought! As if something like this is even in the same paradigm as Barton Springs. Just because it's water does not mean it is interchangeable. Barton Springs feeds my soul. This place would be merely diverting.

Homegroan Vol. 1 is my favorite radio station compilation ever. I still listen to it. Rocked out to Screw's "Mouthful of Dust" this morning on my way to work and going to see Retarded Elf back in the day was a trip. Thanks for compiling these videos some of which are long time personal faves.
