Blowout birthday bash for the amazing Miss Laurie Gallardo from KUT this Saturday. Don’t miss it!

Yeah, yeah. I know that Roary is the social director. And while he and Laurie may or may not have been intimate, she was my friend first, and I’m gonna write about her 40th B-day bash this weekend.

Most of you probably have heard Laurie Gallardo’s voice on KUT. You may have read her posts on Texas Music Matters or the Austin Music Minute. Or you may have just stumbled upon her while she was,um, stumbling around 7th St. Regardless of how you know her, let me tell you: She’s pretty amazing.

I personally can’t quite remember where I met the fabulous Laurie Gallardo. It may have been at the Beauty Bar or Mohawk. But don’t let the hazy circumstance of our meeting make it sound trite. Since that faithful night, she’s become a great friend and a source of inspiration and guidance for me. Oh yeah, and she helped host the Roaries back in February

Couple of things I’ve learned about Laurie:

• She’s in an all-girl rock band.
• She used to be an announcer for the Roller Girls.
• She likes to wear all kinds of boots.
• She’s originally from El Paso.
• She loves the classic gothic TV show Dark Shadows.
• She’s an Andy Warhol history buff.
• She truly loves music.
• She’s turning 40 this weekend.

When I found out she was turning 40, I flipped. This beautiful, stylish woman doesn’t look a day older than 30. Check out these pics I’ve taken of her over the last year:
