24 Hours at SXSW 2010 – March 18th 2010 with Guillaume Simon from French band Shine

2010 March 19

Unless you’re surgically fused to someone, chances are you aren’t going to have the same experience at SXSW as anyone else. With that in mind, we invited some of our friends from around Austin and the country to document 24 hours of their experience at SXSW. Geeks, filmmakers and musicians will all be sharing their SXSW 2010 experience with us. There might be some surprises!

Today’s guest, Guillaume Simon, came to Austin all the way  from France for SXSW. His band, Shine, has an official SXSW show on Saturday at 9PM at St. David’s Historic Sanctuary. To me, their sound is a little psychedelic rock-ish. You can listen to them on their MySpace page.

Where could I begin ? How should I finish ? Is there a start ? Is there an end ? I woke up in Austin, Texas this morning, in a house I did not know, surrounded by huge (nice) dogs I did not know. Ok I guess there is something going on here. We took a long trip, we have motivation, we have dreams, we have all the basics to give what we have to give but do we have the guts to receive what we’re about to receive ? Man, so many people, so much music, so many things to schedule, to forget then. Who cares ? I’m in !

During that first day, I knew in the back of my mind that I had to remember everything to tell my experience to my family, to my friends, to you, readers. But the problem now is that I don’t feel like telling you all this. Let me explain. I’m not a good storyteller, I’m not a good talker, I like to breathe, to see with my eyes wide open, to hear every note behind the fun. And I’m stressed out because it’s the very first concert in the US of my band Shine (http://www.shine-music.net). I’m excited too. I’m exhausted. I’m fine. I feel lost. I am not. It’s complicated.

Anyway, we checked the place we’ll play next Saturday (http://my.sxsw.com/events/eid/10339). It’s a church, an actual church ! I mean it’s surprising and it’s beautiful at the same time. As soon as we got there, we knew that it would be special. And it will. We can’t wait.

I wish I could tell you more. We will just sing it.
