Early voting has begun for March 2014 Primaries in the Austin area. You can vote early at any of these locations through Friday, February 28th. The primary election is on Tuesday, March 4th.

With tons of people moving here every day, it’s crucial that we elect candidates that will help alleviate our transportation needs.  Here are a few candidates actively embracing the sustainable lifestyle we want to preserve in Austin by getting around by bicycle.

Travis County Judge: Sarah Eckhardt

Sarah Eckhardt may have children and a busy work schedule, but that didn’t stop her from the more-than-occasional bicycle commute from Clarksville to her office downtown. Sarah knows that more roads will not solve Austin’s problems and change starts with our own behavior. She practices what she preaches!

Travis County Commissioner, Precinct 2: Brigid Shea

We know her husband is an avid cyclist, and Brigid knows how to ride, too. Closely associated with the Save Our Springs Alliance, it’s good to seen an environmentalist getting around on two wheels.

U.S. Representative District 25: Stuart Gourd

Democratic Candidate Stuart Gourd is a long shot candidate for the house seat representing West Austin and a large swath of Hill Country, but he looks extremely comfortable on two wheels. He certainly embodies a genuine Austin aesthetic!

Governor: Wendy Davis

Ms. Davis may not bike everywhere she goes in spread-out Fort Worth, but we have seen her ride with the LMRA Bicycle Club in North Texas, so we know she does have an appreciation for what it means to be on two wheels. Given those snazzy pink sneakers she infamously sports, we know she has no problem on her two feet, either! We stand and ride with you, Wendy!
